Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Patrons rave about the crispy batter on the fresh fish, which consistently earns high marks for flavor and texture. The spicy king prawn burger is a standout favorite, packed with three generous prawns, making it a beloved choice for many.

Another big hit is the portion size; many find their meals more than enough to share, often resulting in leftovers.

The homemade mushy peas and garlic mayo are frequently mentioned in reviews, with taste buds tingling at the mention of these sauces. The commitment to quality and customer satisfaction shines through, as the staff remains noted for their friendliness and professionalism.

Most Disliked

Some customers have reported inconsistencies in the cooking of chips, mentioning that occasionally, they can be pale or soggy from condensation when packed too tightly.

Long waits during peak hours, especially Friday evenings, can be frustrating, leading to customer impatience, particularly if they are in a hurry.

While the expansive menu offers a variety of choices, some patrons feel overwhelmed by too many options and express a desire for clearer highlights on the menu.

A family generation have taken me here both my grandad and my dad since it opened in 1962. I don’t think there’s a better place in Newcastle that can match the quality. Fully recommended.

I had heard about Fenham fish bar through social media. I was driving passed to see it open so stopped to pick something up. I ordered the spicy king prawn burger, small chips and a pineapple fritter. The burger was divine, 3 meaty prawns in batter with sauce and salad, couldn't fault it. The chips were a little pale and the box stuffed so full that the chips got soggy from condensation which was a shame. It was definitely a portion for 2 which meant I wasted half a box. The pineapple fritter was okay.

This is not your average chippy. The food here is absolutely spot on. The service is really professional and our burgers, fish and chips were worth every penny. The garlic mayo is to die for as well, it tasted like proper garli ai'oli

The best chippy in the area nice white flaky fish, proper chips, and their own mushy peas unbelievably tasty. The fish in the photo is small. I hope their standard and quality never changes. Perfect
